Monday Morning Musings - May 2, 2011

It’s been an amazing week full of blessings, opportunities and challenges!

Yesterday the Heights community was featured in the Westside service. Thank you Won and Caroline for giving leadership to this important time. As we follow the Spirit’s leading and project toward a neighborhood church launch on Easter 2012, we must continually lean into all that the Spirit has for us and we definitely need the prayers of the church.

It was my honor to be in Brooklyn yesterday teaching in the 10:30 and 5:00 services. My teaching was actually more a time of telling stories of evidence of the Kingdom of God breaking through in New York City and ways that we at Trinity Grace Church have been privileged to participate in those stories. My heart is moved when I focus on the seven signs of the Kingdom: salvation/deliverance, righteousness/justice, peace, joy, God’s presence, healing, and return from exile. Some of the stories I shared yesterday came right out of our community. We need to be telling these stories. As you hear them, witness them, and participate in them, please share them so that we can all be encouraged. “How we long for the day…”

Last week I sent out a Doodle survey to the Heights men in order to determine the best time to come together for prayer on a weekly basis. And the survey said: “Monday at 7:00 p.m.” We will continue to meet at the 181 Overlook. It would be great to have some other prayer times springing up especially among the women.

What an awesome time of community we experienced Wednesday night at the Melendez home! We packed 30 people into an area that might have raised the eyebrows of the fire marshal. These warmer months promise to be exciting and we have a good list of activities to act upon.

Looking forward to opportunities to connect - beginning with men’s prayer this evening at 7:00 at the 181 Overlook. Have a great week!
